Cairo, March 29, 2023, SPA -- The Arab Parliament has stressed its firm position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and its solidarity with the Palestinians in defending their land, history, holy sites and national identity, stressing the need to achieve peace in accordance with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, based on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement issued today, on the 47th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day, the Arab Parliament said that the occasion is marked at a time of dangerous escalation against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem since the far-right Israeli government has assumed power and imposed a new plan for further forced displacement as a punishment for Palestinians, as well as the acceleration of illegal settlement construction and frequent incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, which threatens to fuel conflicts in the region.
The Arab Parliament called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take serious steps to end the occupation, establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, provide international protection to the Palestinian people, cease all violations and provocative unilateral actions by the occupying forces, and stop repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian cities.
